Neighborhood

Napa

There’s more to the city of Napa, the county seat, than great wine.;Old Town Napa features charming cottages, bungalows, Victorians, and Queen Anne homes. Downtown Napa offers phenomenal restaurants, farmers’ markets, boutique shopping, and plenty of wine-tasting rooms. The development of the riverfront, along with a riverbank promenade, signaled the renaissance of Napa's downtown. Where the Napa River makes a bend through the city, you'll find Oxbow Public Market in downtown Napa's Oxbow District. Every Tuesday night, the merchants celebrate Local’s Night, sponsoring live music, wine tastings, and face painting for kids.;Venture a few miles outside of the city and you will be in farm country, surrounded by vineyards and horse stables. On Redwood Road, The Hess Collection includes a gallery of museum-quality modern art featuring works by Robert Motherwell, Anselm Keifer, and Leopoldo Maler.;Built in 1879, the Napa Valley Opera House building was restored in 2003 to its former glory. Throughout the summer, Veterans Memorial Park Amphitheater hosts Napa City Nights, a slate of concerts spanning a variety of genres. And for the past few years,;Napa has hosted Bottle Rock, a three-day music festival that books big-name acts.;While there are plenty of restaurants run by celebrity chefs in Napa, locals in search of a relaxed dinner head for Norman Rose Tavern to get classic American comfort food, burgers, and brews.

St Helena

Napa County’s crown jewel just might be St. Helena. Home to grand vineyard estates that sit behind gated drives and rows of olive trees, St. Helena offers the ultimate in Napa Valley lifestyle: tranquility, relaxation, and refined recreation. ;A fabulous main street, restaurants, spas, and shops are a magnet for St. Helena tourists. There's a strong local community feel here as well, with many of the community's historic buildings having been preserved and turned into specialty shops, galleries, and restaurants. Shopping at Goodman’s Department Store on Main Street, with its ornate Queen Anne facade, is a throwback to a simpler time. The annual Napa Valley Film Festival fills downtown with films and filmmakers, chefs, and tasting stations from dozens of local wineries.;St. Helena’s world-class restaurants need top-tier chefs, and the Culinary Institute of America, located in the former Christian Brothers Winery, trains the next generation of culinary stars. The institute also offers hour-long cooking demonstrations for local residents along with full-time, professional-level courses. ;Twelve-acre Crane Park on the outskirts of town is home to St. Helena's Farmers’ Market, along with picnic sites, eight lighted bocce courts, and six lighted tennis courts.

Calistoga
Located in far northern Napa County, Calistoga has a distinctly relaxed feel. More than 125 years after its founding, the community still retains its small-town charm.;Calistoga is perhaps best-known for its many spas, thermal springs, and mud baths that line state Route 29, which runs through the heart of the small city. Calistoga knows it has something special and aims to keep it that way.;The small city’s main street offers an eclectic mix of shopping, wine-tasting rooms, and restaurants. There isn't a fast-food joint;in town, so the locals head to Busters Southern BBQ for barbecue or Mary’s Home Plate Cafe for a burger. At the top of the food chain;is Solbar, a Michelin-starred eatery that emphasizes local ingredients. Citizens are dedicated supporters of;Calistoga’s schools and socialize at the community pool in the city’s center. For a lighter-than-air experience, Calistoga Balloons will float you over the sights of: Palisade Cliffs; Mount Saint Helena; Chateau Montelena; Old Faithful Geyser, which erupts every 40 minutes; and the Petrified Forest. For those who want to explore the area on foot, Robert Louis Stevenson State Park, located five miles north of Calistoga, offers a commanding view of the valley.;Homes in Calistoga are eclectic, ranging from smaller, older houses near the city center, to showplace countryside homes situated on several acres with mountain and vineyard views
